Acer’s latest Android tablet has landed in stores, though unofficially, and selling for under Php30k. The Iconia Tab A701 comes with HSPA+ & WiFi connectivity running on a Tegra 3 chip and a full HD 1080p display.

We first saw the Iconia Tab A700 back in June during Computex 2012 (see first impressions here). The one that we saw in the store today is the 3G model.

Acer Iconia Tab A701 specs:
10.1-inch WUXGA LCD display @ 1080p (1920×1080 pixels), 224ppi
NVidia Tegra 3 T30S 1.3GHz quad-core processor
32GB internal storage
up to 32GB via microSD
WiFi 802.1 b/g/n
Bluetooth 3.0
5MP rear camera with 720p video recording
Android 4.0 ICS
9800mAh Li-Ion battery
649 grams (weight)
175 x 260 x 11mm (dimensions)

Villman sells this exact unit (32GB, 3G+WiFi variant) for Php29,892. We have yet to hear from Acer Philippines for the official launch and release of the tablet but it could happen in the next week or two.

Lenovo’s ThinkPad X1 Carbon to sell for $1,399

Posted: 08 Aug 2012 01:27 AM PDT

Announced back in May, Lenovo’s newest ultrabook (the ThinkPad X1 Carbon) is set to be released later this August for a suggested retail price of $1,399.

The ThinkPad X1 Carbon was designed using carbon-fibre chassis providing for a tough yet lightweight body.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon specs:
14-inch LED 720p display @ 1600×900 pixels
Intel Core i5-3317U 1.7GHz dual-core
Intel HD 4000 graphics
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Built-in 3G modem (optional)
1 x USB 2.0 port
1 x USB 3.0 port
miniDisplay port
SD card reader
720p webcam
Biometric scanner
Dolby Home Theater
Windows 7

This is just the configuration and additional upgrades like Intel Core i7, more RAM and SSD storage will push the SRP to about $1,849.

The ThinkPad X1 Carbon incorporates a Rapid Charge technology that allows the ultrabook to be charged up to 80% capacity in just 30 minutes. The 14-inch ultrabook measures around 18mm on the side and weighs about 3lbs (which is very light for its size).

We expecting the X1 Carbon to be eventually launched here in the Philippines by end of the month or probably in September. We hope the local SRP to be almost the same or near the quoted price in their website (or maybe add that 12% VAT).
