The Biggest Question I'm Asked, WHY?

Posted: 19 Aug 2012 01:44 PM PDT

While the first thing out of people's mouths is usually, are you crazy. Then comes the big question, WHY would you run for Mayor in this political arena?

While most of you have jobs, most do not have the kind of time it requires to be a Mayor of such a big City.

Then there's the business background necessary. We've recently proven that just because a young man speaks well and carries himself well doesn't mean he's Mayoral material. Of course I'm speaking about Mayor Jim Ireton.

One of the major hurdles every single person has been confronted with in years past is the absolute abuse some have taken from certain administrations. Threats, lawsuits, personal attacks, physical attacks, abuse to family members, jobs, you name it, it's been done .

I have been dealing with these abusers for 8 years now and guess what, their attacks on Blogs, their Peace Orders, their lawsuits simply roll off my back. Their biggest frustration is, they cannot stop me from ANYTHING I put my mind to. If I want it, I'm going after it and NO ONE is going to stop me.

If you think about that for a bit and relate it to YOUR personal life, do ANY of you really want to put up with their garbage? Can you really afford to fight their lawsuits? Do you have hundreds of thousands of dollars to WASTE on their petty charges? Yes, that's right, I have spent well more than $100,000.00 dealing with Salisbury lawsuits over the years.

Is it worth it? No, not really. However, I was raised to defend myself and I have always stood up for the underdog. Salisbury is loaded with a bunch of bully politicians who THINK their lives will end if they lose an election. Everything is either black or white and that's all there is to it in their eyes.

How unfortunate that we live in a society where so many people are in fear of local politicians. This weekend I met with Council Members, Delegates, Senators and even a congressman, all stepped up to the plate and thanked me for putting my name in the hat to run for Mayor of Salisbury. Each and every one of them pledged their support and asked if there was ANYTHING they could do to help my Campaign. You don't get that kind of support if your not an honorable person.

So let's get back to the key question, WHY?

I intend to run for Mayor of Salisbury because I'm sick and tired of politicians who use easy money to make it look like things are getting done. I'm sick and tired of politicians who aren't accountable for their actions. Some examples, the Salisbury Waste Water Treatment Plant. The old Mall. Developer reimbursements, Pipe stem annexations. Fire Boats. You know the drill.

We have a Mayor's Office, (are you ready) that now costs the taxpayers $500,000.00 a year in salaries alone, yet the Mayor only makes $25,000.00 a year. Can we cut back within the Mayor's Office, you better believe we can and you better believe, WE WILL.

If we continue to run Salisbury like we have for the past 15 years, there's no question in my mind Salisbury will fail. There's no real solid future plans for Salisbury. Just poorly planned patch work like 500 subsidized housing units in Downtown. Of course that also means selling off ALL of the Parking Lots in Downtown, (including very valuable waterfront lots).

So just what will we do when and if we revitalize Downtown Salisbury and there's so much traffic there's no parking left for the BOOM? My belief is, they aren't planning for any BOOM at all. Just lipstick on a pig. They want to get all that Obama money and do a quick fix. Quick fixes never last, every one knows that.

I want Hotels along the River Walk. I want specialty Shops and small boats taking you from one place to the next like a water taxi. I have shared my vision with hundreds of people and not one of them said, no way. Instead they had excitement in their eyes and their voices.

WHY, because I have a business background. I know how to manage people and negotiate huge deals. I have connections with investors from all over the country. I also have great connections with Maryland Politicians, hence the new sex offender laws created a few years ago. Salisbury is NOT a City to GIVE AWAY. I firmly disagree with surplussing those parking lots.

WHY, because I can work with the Council and unite them. I will respect the position as Mayor as an administrator, not a legislator. You see, that's been the biggest problem Salisbury has had to deal with for the past 15 years. The last two Mayors have bullied the City Council, while the Mayor has NO REAL POWER. They have trained all of you into believing they make the decisions, policy, that's just not true at all.

The Mayor simply manages the City and its employees. The Mayor hires and fires those employees, somewhat. Mind you, there are positions in which even the Council plays a roll in. Nevertheless, the Mayor has trained the citizens into believing it's their way or no way at all. I call them, bullies.

As your next Mayor, I will respect the power of the entire Council. I will bring forth ideas that will respect the property WE own and not give it away to people close to me or even support me. I will get the Council excited about a 30 year long Master Plan for the City. We don't need to hire Firms to figure out what Salisbury needs. I'll reach out to every citizen for their input and together we'll rebuild.

WHY, because Salisbury must be a safer place to live. Crime must become priority #1. We don't need more Firefighters. We need more Police Officers. The Fire Department has seen their 10+ years of glory, I plan on changing that, period. And I'm NOT afraid to put it out there. You elect me, you're going to know what you voted for.

This isn't about WINNING as if it were a Football or Baseball game, not for me anyway. This is a very serious life changing challenge for ALL of us. Democrat, republican, independent, I don't care what your party is, from this point forward WE are a TEAM.

Those of you who can't get excited about who I am and what I'm offering, I suggest you put your home up for sale and leave. For those of you who want to see a brighter future in Salisbury, please, forget party lines and let's seriously work together to make Salisbury THE destination location on the Eastern Shore. We may not be able to attract traffic like Ocean City but believe me, if we do this right we'll be darn close. Think San Antonio, Texas. Its right here at our finger tips. You either want it or you want subsidized housing units instead.

The choice will be up to each and every one of you. More to come...

HOW DID AN 82-YEAR-OLD NUN & 2 OTHER ANTI-WAR PROTESTERS BREACH THE ‘FORT KNOX FOR HIGHLY ENRICHED URANIUM’?

Posted: 19 Aug 2012 02:00 PM PDT

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (AP) — Officials like to refer to the Y-12 National Security Complex as the Fort Knox for highly enriched uranium, which is why an unprecedented incursion by an 82-year-old nun and two fellow protesters has critics mocking the notion that the weapons plant is secure.
Operations resumed last week after being shut down over the embarrassing incident 18 days earlier. The Department of Energy has called on the contractor that runs the sensitive facility just west of Knoxville to explain why it shouldn't be replaced.
Y-12 makes uranium parts for every warhead in the U.S. nuclear arsenal, dismantles old weapons and is the nation's primary storehouse for bomb-grade uranium.

ATLANTA SYMPHONY REJECTS TWO HIGH SCHOOL CHORUSES

Posted: 19 Aug 2012 01:30 PM PDT

Two high school choruses will not be performing with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (ASO) this year because they're not "racially-diverse enough," Fox News  reports.
Apparently, it's more important that you look like you just came from the set of "Glee" than it is to, you know, have actual talent.
"This year, the schools were informed by symphony officials that their choruses are not diverse enough, and that the symphony would be inviting a third, more diverse chorus [emphasis added]," said Cobb County Schools spokesman Jay Dillon.

HANK WILLIAMS JR.: ‘WE’VE GOT A MUSLIM PRESIDENT WHO HATES FARMING, HATES THE MILITARY, HATES THE U.S. AND WE HATE HIM!’

Encore?
Nearly a year after country music singer Hank Williams Jr. courted controversy by comparing President Barack Obama to Hitler, he's unleashed more fiery criticism, this time calling the president an anti-American Muslim.
Williams' comment came near the end of a concert Friday night at the Iowa State Fair Grandstand, the Des Moines Register reported.
"We've got a Muslim president who hates farming, hates the military, hates the U.S. and we hate him!" Williams said, according to the newspaper.

Ryan, in Fla., Says, ‘Mom, You Did Build That’

Posted: 19 Aug 2012 12:30 PM PDT

Rep. Paul Ryan, making his first campaign appearance in Florida since becoming Mitt Romney's running mate a week ago, told a supportive crowd of senior citizens Saturday that President Obama is raiding Medicare to fund his health care reforms.
"One out of six of our hospitals and our nursing homes will go out of business," as a result of the changes to Medicare under the president's signature legislative accomplishment, the Affordable Care Act, Mr. Ryansaid in an event at The Villages, the sprawling retirement community near Orlando.
Appearing on stage with his mother, 78-year-old Betty Ryan Douglas, the Republican vice-presidential candidate said he and Mr. Romney would protect Medicare benefits for the current generation of retirees and save the entitlement program for the future.

Where Have All The Farmers Gone?

Posted: 19 Aug 2012 10:30 AM PDT

Considering the Farming Industry is one of the biggest industries in Maryland, you wouldn't know it from the Farm and Home Show held this weekend in Salisbury.

The only County Representative I know were present was Bob Culver. You'd think Matt Holloway would have been present, being he makes a living as a Farmer. Delegate Mike McDermott was present along with Congressman Andy Harris.

The Republican Club had a very strong presence there but no one participated from the Democratic Club at all.

So here's what got me the most, where were all the Farmers? Have they gotten too big for their britches? Have they forgotten where they came from? Are the new generation of Farmers more into technology these days than they are in healthy fellowship with their brothers and sisters in the Farming Industry?

While I have attended many of the farming events over the past several years, I just didn't see the faces I'd normally see at dinners and so forth. So I started thinking, why? Why do they have an organization where a select few bust their tails every year to pull off this great event, yet the local Farmers are nowhere to be found.

It goes back, (I believe) to my earlier statement. Maybe they've forgotten where they came from. Maybe they're fed up with the lack of interest from Wicomico County Officials. Usually you'd see the regular faces attending with their entire Family. You'd see the farm pickups lined up everywhere, not this year.

I saw very little Press presence at the Show. In fact, when WBOC came they only concentrated on sanitation stands at the Show as it was obvious they were only there to do a piece on a flu that broke out recently by someone who owns a few pigs. They certainly weren't there to promote and encourage others to come to the Show.

So have the Farmers given up on us, or have we given up on the Farmers? Considering the event was free, considering the attendance wasn't anywhere near what it should have been by both Farmers and visitors, I'd say it's a little of both.

Don't think for a second the Press hasn't failed the Farmers as well, they have. I guess you have to be as big as the Delaware State Fair to get recognized.

One thing is for sure, the Eastern Shore isn't what it used to be.

Conservative Offers $20,000 to Anyone Who Can Produce Obama’s College Transcripts

Posted: 19 Aug 2012 10:00 AM PDT

If you want to score twenty G's this summer and garner at least thirty minutes of crazy fame then get busy rooting out Obama's college transcripts.
This past Friday provocateur Brooks Bayne who runs TheTrenches.us   asked me if I'd help get the word out about his offer of 20k to anyone who could produce what the White House does not want us to lay our eyes on, namely: BHO's college docs.
I told Brooks, "Let me pray about it and I'll get back with you." Being a man of my word I knelt and prayed, "Lord, what would thou haveth me to doeth?" No sooner did I finish my supplication than a light shone in my office and an angel from heaven appeared and said in a high-pitched Chinese accent, "Do you really have to pray about this, numb nuts?" I was like, "Okay. I guess that's a yes. Man, you're an angry angel."

The media has gone AWOL on the shooting by an apparent deranged leftist at the Family Research Council in Washington DC this week. Friend of the show (ret) General Boykin was at the building when the incident occurred and gives an incredible account of what happened. It's a great story of heroics – so why is the media ignoring it?
Transcript of interview:
GLENN: I think — we think that that's only relevant because they think that's his plan — that's where he learned what he was going to do with GM, but that's another story. We have a friend that works at the Family Research Council, Lieutenant general Jerry Boykin. He is on the phone. There was a tragedy this week, as you may know. A gunman came in, shot a security guard, and, of course, the press hasn't stopped talking about it. Oh, no. Wait. They did. This one is — this one is significant because the shooter was a volunteer. This is a leftist — this is a political terrorist strike. General Jerry Boykin with us. General, how are you, sir?

ATHEISTS CLAIM GROUND ZERO CROSS SICKENS THEM

A lawsuit that challenges the placement of the cross at the site of the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center alleges atheist plaintiffs have suffered serious physical and mental illness because the religious symbol has made them feel excluded.

Nonsense, says a new friend-of-the-court brief to be filed Monday in the case by the American Center for Law and Justice.   The brief, which carries the signatures of more than 100,000 people, argues there have been no known sightings of suicides or uncontrolled vomiting at or around the Ground Zero cross.

Tonight Show cuts staff; Leno trims pay

Posted: 19 Aug 2012 07:00 AM PDT

"The Tonight Show" has laid off about two dozen workers, prompting host Jay Leno to accept a pay cut to spare other staffers as NBC clamps down on expenses.
NBC Universal imposed the cutbacks Friday, according to a person familiar with the moves. The person asked not to be identified because NBC Universal hadn't officially disclosed the cost cutting.
The payroll purge affected about 10 percent of the roughly 200 people who work on "The Tonight Show," still the top-rated late-night program. Viewers shouldn't notice any changes in programming at "The Tonight Show," the person said.
CBS News has learned Leno has taken a pay cut to save jobs, as confirmed by Leno's publicist Bruce Bobbins on Saturday.

U.S. Says Iraqis Are Helping Iran to Skirt Sanctions

Posted: 19 Aug 2012 06:30 AM PDT

When President Obama announced last month that he was barring a Baghdad bank from any dealings with the American banking system, it was a rare acknowledgment of a delicate problem facing the administration in a country that American troops just left: for months, Iraq has been helping Iran skirt economic sanctions imposted on Tehran because of its nuclear program.

The little-known bank singled out by the United States, the Elaf Islamic Bank, is only part of a network of financial institutions and oil-smuggling operations that, according to current and former American and Iraqi government officials and experts on the Iraqi banking sector, has provided Iran with a crucial flow of dollars at a time when sanctions are squeezing its economy.

Child Day Care Now More Expensive Than College In Most States

Posted: 19 Aug 2012 06:00 AM PDT

While much has been made in the last year about the soaring cost of a college education, it's also worth noting that the price of full-time child care has continued to increase, even while many parents have struggled to make ends meet. And a new study finds that the average cost of day care in 35 states and the District of Columbia is now higher than the price of in-state tuition at a four-year college.

California Asks Residents To Rat Out Neighbors With Out-Of-State Car Registrations

Posted: 19 Aug 2012 05:45 AM PDT

When you move to California from another state, the law only provides you a few weeks to register your car in California. But between the dread of dealing with bureaucrats and the state's high registration fees, some drivers are perfectly content with just keeping those out-of-state tags on their vehicles. But authorities in California are asking residents -- and have made it very easy -- to rat on their neighbors for no updating their registrations.

Memo To U.S. Airways Employees: The Coast Guard Is Part Of The Military

Posted: 19 Aug 2012 05:15 AM PDT

The United States Coast Guard is part of the Department of Homeland Security rather than the Department of Defense. This distinction probably wasn't what a U.S. Airways employee had in mind when refusing to waive Jennifer's baggage fees, though. Jennifer was returning to her station from a trip to visit family, but the employee insisted that she had to pay a baggage fee like civilians do, because the Coast Guard isn't part of the military. A manager agreed, but they were both wrong. Jennifer didn't need to pay to check her bags, and members of the Coast Guard have served in just about every war in American history. They certainly are part of the military.
