Have you ever had a locked phone? That is a phone that has its SIM card locked to a particular carrier's service, and can't be used by another carrier? Then you understand how insanely annoying and complicated it can be to transfer your current number over and use all of the features and whatnot of your new, locked phone. And if you don't know what you're doing, let alone how to do it, you could way overspend having someone else do it for you. Luckily, there is now a way to unlock your phone yourself, without the run around from phone companies and the hassle of driving up to a store. (And let's not forget, it's free to do yourself!)

Instructions are as follows:

1 – Go to the link listed below (under Resources) and look at the list of LG unlocking codes.

2 – There will be a rather big list of phone models and numbers. Find your phone's model and number, along with the accompanying code.

3 – Make sure your phone is off, then put in the original SIM card. (This can be locked on most phones either behind the battery or on the side. Make sure everything is put back into place and closed up.

4 – Turn your phone on. When it comes on, you should see a prompt that asks for the unlocking code.

5 – Once the code is entered, the phone will take you to the network lock and unlock settings. You must enter your SP code. This will cause your phone to automatically turn off and back on.

Helpful Tips and Warnings:

Can't find your phone's number and model on the list? You'll have to spend a little cash to buy the unlocking code. You can find that in our reference links.

Please make sure that you have your phone off before you try to take out or put in a SIM card. This is very important.

If you're unlocking your phone so you can use it with a different service provider, you will still have to use its original SIM card when you do the unlocking. However, as soon as it is unlocked, you can easily use a different SIM card from then on.

Unfortunately, if you don't have your SP code for your phone, you're going to have to buy it from a local service provider's store.
